Torrevieja has an abundance of nightlife for visitors. Surrounding Torrevieja are many enclaves of ex-pats, living in the many popular urbanisations.
At the heart of this area is Villamartin. This urbanisation is about 15 minutes drive from the center of Torrevieja. There are two main centers for eating and drinking for golfers and families on holiday or permanently living in Spain.
The most famous of these two areas is Villamartin Plaza. The plaza is right beside Villamartin Golf Club and hosts many restaurants and bars. There is also a few grocery stores selling British branded foodstuffs. The Plaza is on two levels and has live music throughout the busier months of the year.
La Fuente Commercial Center
Fast catching up with the plaza for nightlife is La Fuente Commercial Centre. The centre is located near to Campoamor and Las Ramblas golf courses. It has many bars, restaurants and shops. Many of these open late into the night.
A lot of these businesses have only just opened in the past 4 years. Every week it seems some other business is opening up in the center. Close by is a bank with a cash point and a large Chinese store which sells everything and anything.
There is also a large Mercadona (Spanish supermarket) nearby. Prices in the Mercadona are excellent and is a great place to stock up for the week, especially if you are out for a short golf trip or holiday.
The Stray Sod Irish Bar
The largest and busiest bar around La Fuente CC with the best nightlife is The Stray Sod. This is an Irish bar and restaurant with live entertainment 7 nights of the week and sometimes through the day, on its large sunny terrace.
Live entertainment ranges from classic rock bands to Elvis impersonators. Every live sporting event is covered on its 25 large screen HDTVs, including every Premiership football match as well as the Scottish Premier, European games and selected others.
Food is served from a large open plan kitchen and there is a carvery every Sunday. The opening hours for the bar are 9am till 2am every day and food is served on the premises 17 hours each day in the busy season.
Other areas worth a visit for nightlife if you are close by are Cabo Roig and Playa Flamenca as well as all the other areas, too many to mention in this article.
So all in all the visitor to Torrevieja is spoiled for choice when it comes to nightlife and with a growing list of bars and clubs to choose from, you are sure to find somewhere that suits.
